This week, we mourn the unimaginable loss of two beloved brothers, both on and off the court. Their passion, energy, and presence were a light to everyone around them. Losing them both in such a short time has left a deep void in our hearts. They were more than teammates, they were family. Their love for the game, their brotherhood, and their kindness inspired everyone who had the privilege to know them.
Haji Mohd Firdaus Kamilrudin who passed away last Friday (11th July) due to motorcycle accident and today (13th July), his teammate and best friend Muhammad Zhahril Zaki who was collapsed during a match today. Both of them playing for Cheras Hurricanes (D2) and Pegasus (V40).

They weren’t just players. They were mentors, teammates, friends, and role models. The type of people you wanted on your side on and off the court. Whether it was their hustle during a game, their laughter during mamak session, or the way they supported those around them, their presence made a difference.
Both of them in Pegasus V40 line up this season.
To lose both in such a short span of time feels unreal. It’s a wound that cuts deeply into everyone who knew them. The pain of this loss is felt not only in our basketball circles but across the wider community who knew their hearts and their humanity.
They lived side by side. They loved side by side. And now, heartbreakingly, they rest side by side.
This tragedy reminds us how fragile life is… and how important it is to appreciate every moment, every game, every bond we build through this sport we love.
To their family, friends, and everyone mourning right now — our thoughts and prayers are with you. We stand with you in grief, and we carry your pain as our own. The entire basketball family wraps its arms around you during this incredibly difficult time.
May their souls be granted the highest place in the hereafter, and may their legacy — of brotherhood, passion, and heart — continue to live on in every shot we take, every huddle we share, and every game we play.
